TriPoli Rocketry Association Certifications

L1 Certfication

This certification allows you to fly rockets with motors in the H and I impulse ranges. To earn L1 certification, you must build and successfully launch a high-power rocket in front of a certified member. It’s typically an entry-level certification, and through your rocket club, you can receive guidance, help with building, and mentorship to ensure your rocket is flight-ready.

L2 Certfication

This certification covers rockets with J, K, and L motors. In addition to a successful flight, you must pass a written exam that tests your knowledge of high-power rocketry principles. Rocket club can help by providing study materials and mentors to guide you through the certification process, including building more advanced rockets.

L3 Certification

The highest level of certification, L3 allows you to fly rockets with M and larger motors. Achieving this level requires you to design, build, and fly a large, complex rocket, often with multiple stages or advanced recovery systems. You’ll need to work with a mentor certified at this level, and your rocket club can connect you with experienced members and resources to complete this certification.
